Scar Management Services is the umbrella term for our integrated approach to scar therapies and techniques which can be of benefit to anyone living with scarring.  Whether newly acquired or longer term, whatever the cause; trauma, burns or surgery, our scar management services can help. The service is available to all our patients: Military, Rehabilitation, Expert Witness Referrals, International and Clinician or Self-referring patients. Scar Management advice and therapies can be provided in conjunction with Skin Camouflage or as a stand-alone service.

How Scar Management Can Help

At the forefront of non-invasive scar minimisation techniques and therapies, Skin Camouflage Services has prescribed proven silicone scar therapy products alongside skin camouflage treatments since 2015. Where there is indented or depressed scarring, we can advise on the use of topical dermal fillers. Our aim is to minimise scarring and optimise the benefits of skin camouflage. To that end are proud to now add specialist scar therapy or treatments to our repertoire of therapeutic options.

The scar massage we advocate most often is ScarWork™. This is a gentle but very effective approach to scar management, a technique  developed by internationally respected scar therapist Sharon Wheeler.  This technique can be used on scars large or small, anywhere on the face and body and is equally suitable for children. Following assessment new and mature scars can be treated with a series of tailored ScarWork treatments for uneven, tight, stretched, puckered and tethered scars.

ScarWork massage also helps soften and flatten raised areas of scarring which not only improves comfort but, where used in conjunction with skin camouflage, can also improve the overall effect of the prescribed skin camouflage regime.

Depending on your particular needs and with guidance from us, you may be able to continue the recommended scar massage techniques yourself at home, for others we may recommend a course of professional ScarWork treatments.
